Secondary Tuition

Tutor Room’s team of secondary teachers are based all over the UK….from Scotland to Liverpool to Cornwall. They are all very experienced teachers and many of them have also worked as GCSE and A’level examiners. As with everyone in our team, relationship building and trust is at the heart of their teaching ethos. Once we have that, achievement follows.

We support a number of children throughout their secondary career from year 7 through to year 13. In all subjects, at all levels. Our teachers understand the stress of exams and the anxiety this can cause in young people (and their parents!) and work with them supportively to ensure they can tackle any exam question to the best of their ability.

Children work with our tutors on a 1:1 basis, in a pair or small group (maximum of 4 children). We offer tuition from year 7 through to A’level in the following subjects:

We and our son would like to thank Tutor Room for matching us with the ideal tutor for GCSE English. We were apprehensive to start with at doing the sessions on Zoom, rather than in person, but it worked very well. Sue really understood his issues and worked through all of them, pitching the lessons just right and tailoring them to him, even going through his actual mocks papers question by question in detail. Each week we had the log in details well in advance, copies of the lesson slides, revision notes and practice work to do. He now knows the curriculum inside out and how to tackle any question that comes his way. You’ve made it all come together for him and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Jayne is a fantastic maths tutor and really went beyond the call of duty to help my son through two terms of weekly tutoring. I was hesitant about group sessions but I needn’t have concerned myself as my son who was studying for his GCSE exams was given almost personal tutoring as Jayne has an excellent technique of running a group and keeping it very personal and knowing what each student requires to achieve their full potential. I cannot recommend Jayne and Rachel at Tutor Room enough.

Rachel matched our requirements perfectly, pairing my daughter up with a maths tutor. Having always struggled with maths and her confidence levels at an all-time low, my daughter was scoring ungraded in her maths exams and hated the subject.
