My name is Mark and I’m a specialist Computer Science teacher and tutor with over 20 years of experience teaching in schools across the UK and internationally. I have extensive knowledge of the Scottish, English and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula, working with students from upper primary through to Higher, A-Level and IB Diploma level.
My teaching approach combines strong theoretical understanding with the development of practical, real-world computing skills. I place a particular emphasis on hands-on learning, enabling students to apply concepts through programming, problem-solving and project-based activities that deepen understanding and enhance academic performance.
I have a proven track record of building confidence and competence in programming, helping students develop the skills and mindset needed to succeed in Computer Science. I am known for creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment, with a particular focus on helping students who may be struggling with the subject or lacking confidence in their abilities.
Throughout my career, I have successfully supported students with a wide range of additional support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). By adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs, I have consistently helped students achieve excellent academic outcomes while developing greater confidence and independence in their learning.
