I was a fulltime Primary School teacher for 29 years and was lucky enough to teach in four continents, most recently in Brighton and Hove. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and have taught all years from Reception to Year 6, children with SEND and have prepared students for SATs. I also have experience of teaching children no longer in mainstream education.

For most of my teaching career PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) has been my passion. I absolutely loved teaching and leading it. I firmly believe that children can’t learn unless they feel safe, heard and understood. Through my PSHE lessons I was able to help the students attain these vital things and a lot more besides. I enjoy finding new and exciting ways to make learning fun.

I have been tutoring since September 2024 and love it. I particularly enjoy how fast the progress can be with a student, when it’s one on one. Tailoring lessons to each child’s needs means that they are taught exactly what they need at that time and in the best way for them. It is so satisfying seeing how much their confidence grows, as they start understanding concepts which they had been struggling with. Instilling in each child a love of learning and the confidence to explore and develop their individual talents is important to me.

As well as being a Primary School teacher, I am also a qualified Children’s Yoga teacher. I have practised yoga myself for many years and know from my own experience the huge benefits it can bring to our wellbeing, as well as our bodies. I enjoy incorporating some yoga into my tutoring, where appropriate. The children almost visibly ‘grow’ after a short yoga break in their academic studies. They then go back afresh to whatever it is we are working on, with renewed energy and focus.
