Hi I’m Kurt and I’ve been a teacher of GCSE/A Level Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Astronomy in secondary schools and sixth form colleges for 18 years, nurturing a love of maths from year 7 to A levels and building confidence to succeed. I try to focus on the how and why of maths and encourage problem-solving and concept linking so students gain a powerful understanding, which enables them to apply their skills to unfamiliar situations and prepares them for exams. I am also an OCR A-Level examiner in Further Maths & Physics and I provide insider strategies on how to approach exam questions, avoid common pitfalls, and maximise marks. I have a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Bristol and am a Published Physics author (Visual Learning Physics: Barron’s). To unwind in my spare time, I surf around the many beaches of the beautiful Cornish coastline, I am a qualified mountain bike instructor, and I have been studying martial arts, specifically Shotokan Karate, for a number of years.
